El Barrio II
About This Spot
El Barrio II settles comfortably into its spot along a bustling strip mall in Plainfield, greeting visitors with the warm hum of authentic Latin rhythms and the inviting scent of freshly made tortillas. The atmosphere here is relaxed yet lively, a space where locals gather regularly, finding familiarity in its steady pulse and genuine hospitality. It feels like a neighborhood gem—a place where the pace slows just enough to savor not only the food but the shared moments around the table.
Inside, the modest seating arrangement and clean, unpretentious décor set the stage for an experience focused on honest, straightforward Mexican fare. The kitchen’s care is evident in each piping hot taco that arrives with a balance of bold spices, tender meats, and fresh toppings that seem thoughtfully prepared—whether it’s the sizzling pastor steak, the chorizo-infused creations, or lighter bites like ceviche-topped tostadas. Drinks like horchata or a well-crafted michelada add to the feeling of comfort that invites guests to linger and enjoy.
This is the kind of place where portions are generous, and meals often become shared feasts, accompanied by conversations that unfold naturally over hearty burritos or a freshly tossed carne asada salad. The staff’s genuine friendliness complements the whole experience, making El Barrio II less about a formal outing and more about a weekly ritual for families and friends alike, a welcome retreat from the everyday.
At its heart, El Barrio II offers more than just a meal—it’s a spot that echoes the rhythms of community life, where flavors and melodies blend into something quietly memorable.

Our family has El Barrio at least 1x per week if not twice. It is consistently delicious and fresh!! Tacos come out piping hot. The service is great and it’s a very clean restaurant. It’s truly the best Mexican food in our area and surrounding suburbs!

**Long Overdue Review – Consistently Outstanding** I’ve been to this place *many times* and can’t believe I’ve never taken the time to write an honest review. It’s long overdue. The food here is **exceptional** — every single dish I’ve tried has been flavorful, fresh, and clearly made by a kitchen team that knows exactly what they’re doing. You can taste the quality and care in every bite. The service? Just as impressive. Friendly, efficient, and consistent across every visit. On top of that, the place is **immaculately clean**. From the dining area to the restrooms, everything is always spotless — a clear sign of pride and professionalism behind the scenes. This place has *never once* disappointed, no matter how many times I’ve come. That kind of consistency is rare and worth recognizing. **Highly recommended — and I’ll absolutely keep coming back.**

This is a nice little strip mall restaurant with a decent amount of seating. Friendly and courteous staff with authentic Latin music playing for the perfect ambiance. I tried the Giant steak burrito and it does not dissapoint. It's massive in size and filled with flavor. It's great for someone with a large appetite or a small family lol. It's well worth the money and I highly recommend it!

Tried this place for the first time. Got the king size burrito. Was not too bad. A little too salty and also had the shrimp ceviche with tostadas. Need to be marianted longer. Also, had a horchata which was really good

Nice Mexican restaurant in the middle of a shopping plaza with plenty of parking and a decent amount of seating for dinning in. The food is very flavorful and good size portions. But you have to try the Giant Steak Burrito! It is massive and delicious and well worth the money. The staff is friendly and courteous and they have latim music playing for background ambiance. El Barrio II is a must try place!!!

I Purchased the Burrito Gigante which was all least 18" long and 8 inches thick fed the whole family on 18 dollars I also got 2 Gorditas Chicaron which were also decent sized and perfectly filled ..The servers were attentive and Courteous. Definitely would drive 20 miles to get more and try different things .Thanks so much don't ever change .

Went here yesterday for the first time for a quick dinner didn’t except to see a nice clean Mexican restaurant. When we got there nobody greeted us or guided us where to sit so we sat ourselves after a couple minutes they brought some chips and salsa and asked us for drinks. I do recommend their horchata it’s really smooth! We placed our order and it came really quick I’m just gonna say portions are HUGE any plate is for 2 people easy. The flavor is good the only thing is that the taco salads the tortilla isn’t tortilla it’s like a pastry. Overall would go again and try something different.
